چکیده

A relevant intrapersonal characteristic for understanding intentions and behavior toward environmental sustainability is the degree to which nature important a person’s self-definition. Clayton’s Environmental Identity (EID) scale purports measure this construct. However, limited number of prior exploratory studies have supported different factor structures. Hence, our initial aim was develop an dimensionality 24-item EID by testing competing latent structures using confirmatory analysis. We analyzed self-reported data from 458 adults (Mage = 26.7 years; 81% female). Four priori models (a first-order model, second-order unidimensional bifactor model) did not show satisfactory fit data. An ancillary analysis structural equation modeling (bifactor-ESEM) indicated model with three specific factors had good The loadings values indices (Omega Hierarchical Explained Common Variance [ECV]) single mean score across all items taps into essentially construct therefore appropriate interpret. In sum, study provides critical insight that will be valuable when applying research intervention purposes.

Running head : BIFACTOR - ESEM AND MOTIVATION 1 Using Bifactor - Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling to Test for a Continuum Structure of Motivation Joshua

This paper explores the nature of workplace motivation by testing the continuum structure of motivation proposed by self-determination theory (SDT) through the application of relatively new and advanced methodological techniques. Specifically we demonstrate the usefulness of the overarching bifactor exploratory structural equation modeling (B-ESEM) framework in organizational psychology and dis...

Construct Validity of the Social Provisions Scale: A Bifactor Exploratory Structural Equation Modeling Approach.

Extant theory posits well-differentiated dimensions of perceived social support as measured using the Social Provisions Scale (SPS). However, evidence is inconsistent with this multidimensionality perspective, with SPS factor correlations near unity and higher between-factor than within-factor item correlations. This article reports on research investigating the internal structure, gender invar...

Exploratory structural equation modeling: an integration of the best features of exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis.

Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) and confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), path analysis, and structural equation modeling (SEM) have long histories in clinical research. Although CFA has largely superseded EFA, CFAs of multidimensional constructs typically fail to meet standards of good measurement: goodness of fit, measurement invariance, lack of differential item functioning, and well-differe...

The Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale-Short Version: scale reduction via exploratory bifactor modeling of the broad anxiety factor.

Using a school-based (N = 1,060) and clinic-referred (N = 303) youth sample, the authors developed a 25-item shortened version of the Revised Child Anxiety and Depression Scale (RCADS) using Schmid-Leiman exploratory bifactor analysis to reduce client burden and administration time and thus improve the transportability characteristics of this youth anxiety and depression measure. Results reveal...

Confirmatory Factor Analysis of the Combined Social Phobia Scale and Social Interaction Anxiety Scale: Support for a Bifactor Model

For the Social Phobia Scale (SPS) and the Social Interaction Anxiety Scale (SIAS) together, this study examined support for a bifactor model, and also the internal consistency reliability and external validity of the factors in this model. Participants (N = 526) were adults from the general community who completed the SPS and SIAS. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of their ratings indicated g...
